We are searching for an enthusiastic, proactive and driven HR manager to help us grow, support and develop our most important resource, our staff. This is a new role to come in and develop the HR function within our growing company.

Paragraf is a young but already successful Cambridge start-up built on ground-breaking advancements in graphene-based electronics technologies. Our company mission is to deliver significantly improved, more accessible technologies in application spaces ranging from medical science through to green, renewable energy, bringing the benefits of graphene to all. Responsibilities
  • Company values and culture:
    • Be a champion of company values and culture.
    • Promote values and culture throughout the company.
    • Support line managers in disseminating values and culture through their teams.
  • Manage full employee lifecycle from recruitment to leaver, to include but not limited to:
    • Develop recruitment strategy.
    • Build and maintain agent relationships, including negotiation of terms.
    • Manage interview process, including supporting line managers with evaluation methods and selection strategies.
    • Coordinate the appointment, onboarding and leaver processes.
    • Support employee development through managing the appraisal process, maintain focus on employee objectives, organise and identify required L&D.
    • Maintain employee records.
    • Manage staff relationships, responding promptly to any queries or problems.
    • Manage capability investigations, performance reviews, grievance and disciplinary.
  • Continual improvement of HR processes, practices and systems.
  • Manage employee communications.
  • Monitor and maintain staff motivation and morale.
  • Monitor and report on HR KPIs & measurables.
  • Manage and organise staff team building activities.
  • Ensure company is compliant with employment law.
  • Be an active member of the management team, supporting the day-to-day company management.
Qualifications
  • 8 years in an HR role, 3 of which at Manager level.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Strong commercial awareness to understand the needs of a growing business.
  • Hands on approach with a desire to get things done.
  • Proactive problem-solver with an ability to think outside the box.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • An exceptional team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to reflect, learn from mistakes and respond positively to feedback.
  • A flexible and analytical approach to work.
  • An ability to handle several ongoing tasks, and can prioritise and organise own workload.
  • A capability to work autonomously and make considered decisions.
  • CIPD level 5 qualified.

Advantageous skills

  • Experience of working in a VC backed start-up company.
  • Technically minded with an interest in cutting edge technology.
  • Experience of building an HR function from scratch, or turning round a poor performing HR team.
