Paragraf a Double-Winner at Cambridge Independent Science & Technology Awards
HUNTINGDON, England [8 May 2026] – Paragraf, the Cambridgeshire-based global leader in the commercialisation of graphene-based electronics, took home two awards at Thursday night’s Cambridge Independent Science & Technology Awards.

The company were highly commended in the Award for Innovation and Simon Thomas was awarded the CEO of the Year Award. Paragraf was also shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category.
This continues a string of honours for the former University of Cambridge spinout which operates out of its Somersham R&D labs and the world’s first graphene foundry in Huntingdon. In 2025, Thomas was named Entrepreneur of the Year by TechWorks and Paragraf earned recognition from market intelligence firm Frost & Sullivan for Excellence in Semiconductor Innovation. Paragraf were also named Business of the Year by Business Weekly in 2023.
Simon Thomas was unable to attend the ceremony; however, he offered the following thoughts on the honour:
‘It is an honour to personally receive this award and I thank the judging panel for their recognition. However, as much work and responsibility is involved in being the CEO, I can only achieve this level of accolade through the talent and hard work of the people at Paragraf who are doing the incredible job of creating a new class of electronics every day. I’m proud to share this accomplishment with them.’
Paragraf HR Director Helen Dighton accepted the award on his behalf.
‘The innovation behind Paragraf only began with the development of our graphene deposition process,’ Product Manager Hugh Glass commented on the Highly Commended designation for the Award for Innovation. We’ve also managed to innovate products that both demonstrate graphene’s superior electronic capabilities and offer real solutions to our customers’ demands, and now we have innovated a first-of-its-kind semiconductor foundry built for two-dimensional materials.’

‘The electronic properties of graphene have been known for many years, and Paragraf have demonstrated that those properties can be harnessed in real-world devices, and at scale,’ added Technical Lead Rosie Baines Warburton. ‘We are working with customers and partners to commercialise graphene electronics and expand the bounds of the electronics market. We’re glad to see that achievement recognised with this award.’
The awards ceremony was held at Hinxton Hall in Cambridgeshire. A full list of winners is posted on the Cambridge Independent‘s web site.
